Dialogue:
Concept:
Development
Do you work in the performing and visual arts? On this page you can book a short meeting with one of our development partners.
During the meeting, we can discuss an idea, challenge or potential you have. For example, it could be a development initiative that will create new opportunities for current performing and visual arts, solve a problem in the art field or create change in our society - while at the same time contributing to your own development.
You can get a quick clarification of whether your project is within the Bikuben Foundation's strategy and whether there are opportunities to start a collaboration.
On this page you will find an overview of how you can get in touch with us and what the process for DIALOG:CONCEPT:DEVELOPMENT is.
Our strategic focus is on the development of art institutions, theatres, organizations, companies and curators in the performing and visual arts field who want to collaborate to create change in the field and society, while developing their own practice and organization.
Please note that you cannot apply for funding for the production of artworks, exhibitions and performances. Nor do we engage directly in development processes with individual artists. We support this type of development through our collaboration with institutions such as Art Hub Copenhagen, Udviklingsplatformen for Scenekunst (The Development Platform for the Performing Arts), Skitse (Sketch) and HAUT.
1. DIALOGUE
You can initiate a dialogue if you represent an art institution, a theatre, an organization, a company or are a curator within the performing and/or visual arts field. In addition, your organization must work professionally, be based in Denmark and meet the following criteria:
- have a CVR number
- is in need of development
- have an innovative practice or an idea that has innovative potential
- have an idea you want to test or a challenge you want to solve
- are focused on creating change for the field and/or society
- have the opportunity to commit to sharing the learning and knowledge you gain through your development efforts
- have not previously approached you with the same idea
If your organization meets the criteria, you can start the dialogue and book a meeting here.
At the 20-minute meeting, you will have the opportunity to briefly present your development idea and clarify whether it is relevant for us to receive a concept description from you.
2. CONCEPT
If we see a potential for collaboration at the dialog meeting, we will ask you to submit a concept with more information within 14 days.
In the concept, you provide a brief presentation of the idea, development potential or problem. You submit a concept presentation of up to 2 pages and a budget via our digital platform - with the option to link to visual material, film and audio. The concept must also include a short profile text for your institution or practice, max. 10 lines.
We review the material within two months. We provide written feedback and a rejection or commitment to further development.
3. DEVELOPMENT
Based on the concept and budget, we support your idea. The process includes financial support and can also include feedback from us, experts and physical facilities.
We provide support of up to DKK 500,000 and offer approximately 20 development processes per year.
Who can schedule a dialogue meeting?
Art institutions, theatres, organizations, platforms, partnerships, curators and companies within the performing and/or visual arts field can book a meeting with one of our development partners if you meet the following criteria:
- have a CVR number
- have a need for development
- have an innovative practice or an idea that has innovative potential
- have an idea you want to test or a challenge you want to solve
- has a focus on creating change for the field and/or society
- have the opportunity to commit to sharing the learning and knowledge you gain through your development efforts
- is based in Denmark
- work professionally
- have not previously approached you with the same idea
How do I schedule a meeting?
You can book a dialog meeting here if you meet the criteria.
If there are no more available meeting slots, we encourage you to return to the meeting booking on the last business day of the month, where meeting slots for the upcoming month will be created.
How do I qualify for a development program?
At the initial dialog meeting, we clarify whether it is relevant to receive a concept based on your development idea. If we wish to continue the dialog, you submit a concept with more information for the Bikuben Foundation's advisors to review. We offer approximately 20 development programs annually.
What can a development program include?
Together we can figure out what a development process should focus on and what resources we can bring into play based on the needs and potentials of your organization, partners, the field or society. For example, there will be an opportunity for further sparring on the further development of your idea.
You can also receive financial support for e.g. concept development, communication strategy or to explore your international potential. We can support you with advice, networking or a physical workplace. In addition, we can support feedback events where you present an initiative, idea or problem to a relevant group of professionals, advisors and consultants for further sparring and development.
How long does a development process last?
A development process typically lasts around 3-6 months.
Where do I go if I am a visual or performing artist and want to develop my practice?
We support artistic development through financial support and collaboration with Art Hub Copenhagen, HAUT, Udviklingsplatformen for Scenekunst (Development Platform for the Performing Arts) and Skitse (Sketch) - read more on the websites of the respective organizations.
The Bikuben Foundation does not enter into direct collaboration with individual artists in the performing and visual arts field - for example, on artistic development.
Can I collaborate with the Bikuben Foundation in other ways?
Yes, you can. We work to stimulate political conversations about the importance of art and support knowledge sharing among artists and art institutions, theatres, organizations, curators and companies.
We do this through campaigns, communication, events, reports, networks, method development and much more.
You are always welcome to contact us in this regard. Find a relevant employee here.
Can I get financial support for the production of artworks, exhibitions and performances?
No, not directly through the Bikuben Foundation. We do not support the production of artworks, performances and exhibitions, as our strategic focus is on the development and innovation of institutions and organizations that can also develop the field and society. The exceptions are the Vision Exhibition Award and in connection with long-term partnerships.
